§ 17-31. Transferring permits.

  • (a)

    Application for the transfer of a permit heretofore issued shall be made to the city clerk in the same manner as original applications prescribed in section 17-28, except that the new permit shall be marked "Transfer Permit."

    (b)

    A transfer permit shall be issued only upon the surrender of the permit which it replaces, duly assigned by the transferor to the applicant for the transfer permit.

    (c)

    The person to whom such transfer permit is issued shall, in addition to the acceptance of said permit, as provided in the preceding section, also agree in writing to be responsible for all then existing engagements and obligations of the transferor.

    (d)

    Where a permit is transferred under the provisions of this section, the transfer permit holder shall not be required to take out a new city local business tax receipt for the balance of the license year in which such transfer becomes effective, if the transferor has paid the license for such year. However, such local business tax receipt must be transferred in accordance with section 16-17.
