§ 6-24. Same—Definitions.

  • For purposes of this article, the following words and terms shall have the meaning hereinafter ascribed to them:

    False alarm shall mean the activation of an alarm system by any neglect, natural causes, inadvertence or malfunction. False alarms include, but are not limited to, equipment failure and human error, or any other cause when fire department personnel assistance is not required.

    Fire alarm system shall mean any device mechanical or electrical which is installed or used to warn or signal the fire or police department personnel of danger to persons or property.

    First response shall mean a response to a false alarm to premises at which no other false alarm has occurred within the preceding six-month period by fire personnel.

    Response shall mean dispatch of fire department personnel to a location as the result of the activation of an alarm system at that location.
