§ 5-10. Building permits and inspection fees.

  • (a)

    Schedule of fees. The following fees shall be paid for the issuance of building permits by the City of South Daytona:

    $100,001 to $500,000 $385.00 for the first $100,000 plus $2.00 for each additional $1,000 or fraction thereof, to and including $500,000
    $500,001 and up $1,385.00 for the first $500,000 plus $1.00 for each additional $1,000 or fraction thereof

     

    (b)

    In determining the value of construction for purposes of the preceding subsection, the values shall be determined with reference to the applicable building valuation data, including regional modifiers, for all areas under roof according to type of construction and occupancy classification, as published by the International Code Council.

    (c)

    For those types of structures that are not covered by the building valuation data, valuations shall be based on either the average cost per square foot as listed below, or, if not listed, shall be based on the contractor's cost estimate subject to subsection (d):

    (d)

    In those instances in which valuation is based on the contractor's estimate, the contractor shall provide such verification as the building official may require, such as the written contract between the contractor and owner. If the contractor fails to provide such verification, the building official may, in his or her sole discretion, determine the valuation based on value of construction of the proposed work.

    (e)

    Plan review fees. All plan review fees shall be the responsibility of the applicant for plans contracted out for review. These fees are required to be paid prior to plan review.

    (f)

    Placard fee. Each applicant for a building permit shall pay a placard fee of three dollars ($3.00) in addition to the applicable fee from the schedule of fees.

    (g)

    Double fee penalty. Any person who commences work without having first obtained a proper permit shall be assessed a double permit fee penalty upon application for the permit.

    (h)

    Permit refunds. No refund for the first fifty dollars ($50.00). Eighty (80) percent refund for all permit fees over the first fifty dollars ($50.00) provided no work has been completed. No refund if work has commenced.

    (i)

    Reinspection fees, which must be paid prior to reinspection:

    (j)

    Inspection at owner's request, which must be paid at the time of the request. Fees for inspection of existing building structures at owner's request:

    After hours inspection. Fee shall be paid at the time of request:

    Close out fees for permits expired prior to the request for a final inspection, by the contractor of record. Fees must be paid before any new permit is issued to the contractor:
