§ 17-10. Procedure upon dispute between over fare.

  • When any disputes arise between a driver and a passenger as to the price to be charged or the service that was furnished, the passenger may pay promptly the fare demanded and take a receipt therefor, as required by the preceding section, and report the matter, within twelve (12) hours, to the chief of police. In any such case, the chief of police shall hear the dispute, including such evidence as the passenger or the driver may offer, and thereupon attempt to adjust such dispute. He shall do nothing further except suggest that the dispute be settled by the means provided by law.
